The house was for $147,000, gave the seller an offer, they Brother & sister) counted, I accepted. then they said they didn't want to sell, they were going to rent it out. I put up $500 earnest money (i'll get back). Do I have any recoarse to make then sell?

Without a written agreement, your lawsuit for specific performance against these reneging sellers would likely go nowhere.
