Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

housing

This summer, me and 4 other friends

are renting out an apartment

together for two years. My bedroom

is in the basement, and does not

have a window, or a door leading

directly outside. In cases of fire

safety, is it illegal for a bedroom to be

without a window?

Re: housing

A basement bedroom with no window or door with egress directly to the outside? Aside from your legal concern, as a practical matter, why would you be signing up for this kind of arrangement for a period of two years? There surely must be other units available with more commodious arrangements than this particular one.

Re: housing

More than likely the answer is "No".

I can't say for sure without checking the jurisdiction you are talking about.
