Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Quit Claim Deeds

Is a quit claim deed the same in Virginia as it is in Georgia? I have two pieces of property to put in my spouse's name. One in GA and one in VA. Can I use the same form for both? My understanding is that I fill out form and submit to County clerk's office in the specific counties involved. Is this accurate? Thank you.

Re: Quit Claim Deeds

I could not answer your question due to my lack of knowledge of VA law, but it should not be too difficult to determine if the same form can be used, or modify it if not.

If you would like to discuss any issues further, please feel free to contact my office. My contact information is below. Thank you.

Re: Quit Claim Deeds

I doubt that the proper Quitclaim Deed form is the same for the two states. (You should be able to download one appropriate for use in Virginia from the LawGuru website.)

Once properly filled out, the deed form is then recorded in the land records section of the circuit court in the city or county where the property is located.

You would be well advised I believe, to pay a properly qualified attorney for one hour of his or her time to review your deed form and the general state of the title of the Virginia property before having it recorded as described above.
