Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

HOV summons

On 5-12-05, while vacationing, I recieved a ''Virginia Uniform Summons'' for HOV violation, Fairfax County. I live in Texas and hold a Texas drivers license. What is my exposure if I ignore this summons? The fine is due in 21 days, and is $107.00.

Re: HOV summons

I don't think you want to do that. If you were licensed in Virginia, your license would be administratively suspended until the fines were paid and you then paid a reinstatement fee. It is possible that the unpaid ticket would eventually find its way to Texas and your license could be similarly affected there. I am not certain of whether or not this would happen but you can avoid the whole issue by simply paying the ticket.

Re: HOV summons

You could ignore the summons and fine, probably, with impunity, as long as you plan never again to operate a motor vehicle within the confines of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
