Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

My father just recently passed away. He did his will 20 years ago and told me I was in it. He also told me he had a life insurance policy I was on. His wife was very upset about his will back when he did it because she thought her kid should get something. At this point I know nothing. I have not been contacted about his will or life insurance. How long before you have to be contacted about the will or insurance? I would assume she has contacted them because I am sure she is in the will too.

You can check with the Stafford County Circuit Court Probate Office to see if anyone has qualified as executor or personal representative of your father's estate. You can also just ask your step-mother about a will and the insurance policy.
