Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

My husband recently passed away. He did not have a will that was prepared by a lawyer�but he did have a paper that he wrote his wishes on�he signed it in front of 2 others who also signed it as witnesses. Is this legal in Va?

If the will was entirely in his handwriting, as opposed to all or partially typed, it is valid, even without the signatures of witnesses, though the witnesses could be helpful in proving that the handwriting above your husband's signature was entirely his own.
