Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

I live in VA, my mothers home and land was given to her and put in her married name while married to my father, after the divorce, she remarried but the land was still in her old married name. She passed away in 2005 without a will. My step father passed away in 2009 without a will, I am the only child. How do I get this deed out of my mother's name and into mine?

The so-called chain of title will have to be researched with the aid of an attorney in order to clear title to the home. As I read your post, I am concerned that your step father may have had an interest in your mother's home when she died without a will. If that is the case, his heirs may have some interest in the home.
