Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

My husband and son-in-law were intentionally run over by a car. The driver was convicted of felony hit and run and vehicular assault. My son in law experienced about $300,000 in medical expenses and in addition, lost wages. There will be a restitution hearing and the driver who in currently in prison will be told the amount of restitution. Does this now make him liable for the medical bills and release my son in law's obligation?

No, regardless of what happens with the individual that committed the crime, your son-in-law still has a financial obligation to pay the medical bills unless the creditor forgives the debt, or an insurance company pays for the bills. If he hasn't already, he may need to make a claim against the driver's insurance policy. You may want to seek an attorney's assistance for this issue.
