Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington

car sale

my husband sold his 84 truck and made a sellers report he took 100.00 down payment then would get 100.00 a month, but he didn't keep a copy for himself. Well a week later the guy gets into an accident and the truck gets towed. My husband went online and signed over the title but it was 7 days instead of 5 and he didn't have the guys address so the tow company is coming after us for the fees. Is there anything we can do?

Re: car sale

This is not a pretty situation. Without a contract to prove you sold the truck prior to the towing yard taking it, the only option you have left is to get the buyer to admit (preferably in writing) that it's his truck and he is responsible for the tow.

Otherwise, I'd say for the sake of your credit ratings, pay the towing company, and take the truck back. Call this an expensive lesson in how not to sell a vehicle.

Sorry I don't have better news.
