Re: Minor in possession?

If your question concerns the distinction between infractions, misdemeanors and felonies, the answer is yes - MIP is a misdemeanor. Specifically, under the state statute, Revised Code of Washington 66.44.270, MIP is a gross misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 1 year in jail and $5000 fine.

Some municipalites have a local ordinance making the possession or consumption by persons under 21 years of age a misdemeanor, with a penalty of 90 days or less and a fine of $1000 or less.
