Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

My son turned himself in, in Jefferson County WA...He is wanted in Wyoming. The jail is holding him and there is a bond $20,000. Judge here did not believe Wyoming will actually extradite. So what is the law concerning this state holding him on their charges.....What should be done and is there anything we can do?

RCW 10.88 contains the 'fugitive' statutes. Basically, the local judge sets bail and the court is required to review the case after 30 days. If the issuing state is not interested in extradition, then the fugitive charge must be dismissed. If WY has not decided, the court can repeat the process. After 90 days, the defendant must be released if extradition has not occurred.

Keep in mind, though, that even if Jefferson releases him, he can continue to be arrested over and over until the warrant is actually addressed.
