Legal Question in DUI Law in Washington

DUI question.

I was arrested for DUI with a blood alcohol level of .108. I have my court appearance tomorrow. This is the first time (and only time it will...believe that) this has happened to me. What can I expect?

Re: DUI question.

Enter a plea of not guilty and retain legal counsel. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, apply for a public defender.

You will likely be placed on conditions of release - no alcohol, no driving without license/insurance, maintain contact with probation dept., etc.

If you were to enter a plea of guilty, you would be facing a minimum mandatory jail sentence of 1 day, fines and court costs in excess of $1500, a suspension of your driving privilege, an ignition interlock device when you do regain your license, a drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment (if indicated) and years of probation.

If you plead not guilty, additional hearings and trial will be scheduled. Pending these hearings, you will have an opportunity to explore defenses and options.
