Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

My daughter hired an attorney, but it seems that he has never really done anything on her case. As we found out that he never file anything in court. he was paid 3,000 dollars. we asked him for her case file. and he said it would cost her 500 dollars. What can we do.

Read WSBA Advisory Ethics Opinion at http://mcle.mywsba.org/IO/print.aspx?ID=1524. Send it to the attorney and ask him when you can pick the file up. If he still refuses or demands payment (and his written contract says nothing about copy costs for file), contact the WSBA.
