does she have a legal right to......?

I bought a car last summer, lt my now ex-girl friend use it, she usd a beat up car as a trade in, she had to sign over to me which i then signed it over to the dealer. she drove it from like july to january when we splitup the courts gave her possesion of it she hs made no payments i did, i had the bank reposses it and they gave it back to me. she is sueing me for the trad in value plus an extra 500 for her having to borrow a car. she is not on the conract or the title. can she do this?

I think she is going to be out of luck here. First, according to what you have said, she gave you her car, before you gave it to the dealer as a trade-in. She right there, she made a gift (unless there is a contract that proves otherwise) and does not get compensation just because you, as a boyfriend, turned out to be a bad deal.

I am not sure on what basis the court awarded her the car that was in your name, but I bet there was a requirement that she refinance into her own name, which it appears never happened.

Either way, if she sues for possession of the car, I think you're in good shape since I see no contractual or other right by which she would claim ownership.
