Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

I started working at a small teriyaki place, it's their first business, and they told me and my co worker that they didn't get our paychecks in the mail to take the taxes off the pay checks and it's been a week and we still haven't been payed what should I do? (It's the very first paycheck we're receiving too)

Have you requested the owner, who is your employer, to give you a cash advance and to deduct that amount from your paycheck when it is available?

There are penalties provided by law when an employer willfully does not pay employees on time but this situation seems to be not intentional by the employer, so a lawsuit to collect your pay seems premature if a solution can be worked out by negotiating an agreement between the employee(s) and the employer.
