Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

I was at Ziggy's, a hardware store buying some metal siding. They had 4 ware house workers on duty, however had me help load the siding. When the worker lifted the siding it inadvertantly pushed into my index finger causing a severe cut down to the bone. They didnt even off me a pair of gloves which is bad when picking up 6 sheets at a time, nevermoind one piece. All day event with 8 stitches. 1. They did not offer me gloves to load the metal siding. 2. They wore gloves. 3. They have not even contacted me to see the outcome.

Do I have any kind of legal course of action against them? Why do I ask? Because this should never had happened.

Thank You

Charlie

Charlie,

It sounds like you have the makings of a personal injury lawsuit. The best thing you can do at this time, is find a local attorney who practices in the area of personal injury law. Normally, they will give you a free consultation, and if after meeting with them they think you have a case they generally will offer to take it on a contingency basis. Typically in these situations if they do not recover anything you don't have to pay anything, but it is also possible that they may be willing to accept a lower contingency if you are willing to fund some of the costs. These are things which can be negotiated.

The really big issue that is going to determine whether this is a good case or not is how much damage was inflicted upon you. Your medical bills, your time lost from work, and any potential emotional distress you may have suffered are all factors that will play into this. Best of luck to you.

Very Truly Yours,
