asset protection from nursing homes

My husband is almost 20 years older than I and we have been married for almost 30 years. We do not have any children, but have saved and have a nice home and vacation home. I am worried that if something happens and he has to go into nursing home, I will be all alone and also lose my real estate and cash assets. Is there a trust that will help us?

A trust by itself will not protect your assets but planning with a trust will. Given your assets I suggest you work with an attorney on this. You can, of course, use someone in WV, but you can use anyone as long as you make the call. A California attorney is licensed to practice law for anyone who comes to California to hire his or her services. I work for out of state clients all the time doing estate planning with due consideration of the laws of the State in which they reside.
