Legal Question in Business Law in Wisconsin

New Product Ideas

I have a new product that I am willing to sell the idea to a company because I do not want produce it my self, my question is when talking with these companies they ask me to sign a disclosure agreement and I am not sure if I sign it they may take my invention and change it a little (to get around the Patent) and tell me that they all ready had the Idea before I contacted them. What do you suggest I do?

Re: New Product Ideas

Talk to a patent attorney first. Still, you're

on the right track getting them to step by step

acknowledge that they've seen your work and that

it is yours and not theirs, etc. A good lawyer will

know how to do that. Good luck.

Re: New Product Ideas

Everything hinges on the form and the substance of the confidentiality agreement. Most of them that I have reviewed forclients are very onerous and must be negotiated before disclosure of the invention. Your best bet is to contact a registered patent attorney who can help you negotiate the agreement.

Good Luck!!!
