Legal Question in Immigration Law in Wisconsin

my husband came here illegally 10 years ago from mexico. we want to start the process so he has some type of legal status but we dont know what to do or where to start. we have been married for 4 years and have 2 children. i dont want him to leave so what do we do

If he came to USA illegally; no one ever petitioned for him in the past; he had never filed anything with INS, court or USCIS -- then, he will have to go back to Mexico and apply for a visa and an extreme hardship waiver (when a visa is denied).

The "legal status" he can apply for is called "lawful permanent resident" (or green card) based on a marriage to you, a USA citizen.
