Law Office of Shamieh & Ternieden

Attorneys in Firm – 3
Mr. Ternieden earned his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 2000, cum laude, with a concentration in International Law, with honors. He is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona (No. 020704) (2000), the U.S. District Court of Arizona (2001), and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (2002). Mr. Ternieden has been practicing exclusively immigration law with an emphasis on immigration defense and criminal immigration defense, as well as family-based immigration and naturalization. He has extensive experience representing non-citizens before immigration courts (both in bond and merits hearings), the Board of Immigration Appeals, and before the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. As a result, because Mr. Ternieden has both trial and appellate experiences, he has the analytical knowledge to properly identify issues, analyze, plan, and draft immigration briefs that take in consideration both the nuances of trial techniques, but also the intricate ever-evolving challenging issues in immigration law, especially immigration consequences of criminal convictions. Mr. Ternieden has spoken at seminars on diverse topics such as Motions to Suppress Techniques (webinar and seminar) (ILRC, 2007), Criminal Immigration Law Conference (ILRC, 2007), Deportation Clinic Training (IIEB, 2004), and Human Rights Clinic Training (Doctors of the World, 2003). Mr. Ternieden has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Pro Bono Legal Assistance 2005-2007 (IIEB, 2007), Top Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona Award (Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education, 2004), and a Certificate of Appreciation for Pro Bono Legal Service (FIRRP, 2002 & 2003).
