PDS is widely recognized as one of the best public defender of the country. As Section Chief, Gladys supervised over 50 attorneys, conducted training for the attorneys, while continuing to represent clients in DC Superior Court.
A veteran litigator, Gladys has tried over 50 jury trials to verdict and has represented individuals in every stage of criminal dfense. Gladys has litigated Murders, Assaults, Sex Offenses, Drug Offenses, Weapons Violations, all felonies as well as misdemeanors.
Prior to joining PDS, Gladys worked for the Hotel & Restaurants Employees Local 25, where she represented union members in arbitrations. Before working with the union, Gladys was a law clerk for the honeroable Jose M. Lopez, an associatie judge at DC Superior Court. Gladys Weatherspoon has a stellar reputation as an excellent litigator and is a true warrior for her clients. Judges have gone as far as detaining Gladys in a holding cell because of her aggressive advocacy.
