Debt collectors must treat you with truth, fairness, dignity, and respect. They cannot: Threaten lawsuits, garnishment, liens, or arrest for not paying a bill Call your family, friends, neighbors or employers to collect a debt Leave abusive phone messages Insult, yell or swear at you Call your workplace after you told the collector not to call you there Lie, threaten, or otherwise harass you in any way I also pursue mortgage servicers that decieve consumers through false and deceptive billing practices. While I do want to help consumers avoid it, I am a debt relief agent and when necesssary I do assist individuals that find it necessary to file for bankruptcy.
