John B. Shook has established a reputation in the Las Vegas and Southern Nevada legal community for diligently representing clients in all areas of personal injury litigation. Mr. Shook�s practice focuses on workers� compensation and all types of personal injury litigation. Mr. Shook received his Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma. He is known for his ability to formulate creative litigation strategies and is a member of Mensa.
Mr. Shook was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1994 and is a past member of the Nevada Medical Legal Screening Panel and the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, where he was formerly on the Board of Governors. He has also served as a former arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District court-annexed arbitration program.
Mr. Shook�s dedication to the ethical practice of law is evidenced by his position as Vice Chairman of the State Bar of Nevada Client Security Fund Committee. Mr. Shook also facilitated passage of a law requiring insurance companies to notify payees when their settlement drafts are issued.
Mr. Shook is frequently called upon to share his knowledge of personal injury law, and is the author of Medicare 101: A Primer for the Personal Injury Attorney and Preparing for Trial: A Guide for Nevada Paralegals and co-authored The Nevada Client Security Fund: Fulfilling Obligations, Changing Perceptions.
Mr. Shook has demonstrated himself to be an exceptional advocate for his clients. He is known for his strong trial skills and his willingness to take on difficult and challenging cases. As a former criminal defense attorney he successfully defended a capital murder defendant facing execution and an attempted murder defendant who was acquitted. Mr. Shook now utilizes his trial advocacy skills negotiate large settlements in malpractice and attorney fraud cases, and obtain substantial jury verdicts on behalf of his clients. No matter what the situation or subject of the case might be, Mr. Shook is dedicated to a successful resolution for the client.
Outside the practice of law, Mr. Shook enjoys rock climbing, running, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He also enjoys reading the New York Times, playing World of Warcraft, and following Oklahoma football
