He attended the University of Texas, where he graduated at the young age of 19 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government with High Honors. Following that, he attended The University of Texas Law School, where he graduated with Honors in three years; he also earned membership in the Order of the Coif, which is a prestigious distinction that set apart the top percent of his class.
After earning his law degree, Kurt was admitted to practice in the State of Texas in 2002. He then went to work at Susman Godfrey LLP, which is one of the nation's most prestigious litigation firms. There, he met Attorney Jason Itkin and together they left to start Arnold & Itkin in 2004.
Their firm has earned a reputation for taking on some of the most complex cases and breaking records; for example, the firm recently won a $117 million verdict, which is the largest single single-event personal injury verdict in Louisiana history. In 2010, following the tragic Deepwater Horizon explosion, the firm represented many of the workers and their families�representing more of the injured workers than any other firm.
Within the last five years alone, Kurt has recovered more than $700 million in verdicts and settlements and has tried more than thirty different cases in front of judges and juries. In his time as an attorney, he has been proud to protect the rights of injured offshore workers and has displayed a considerable knowledge of maritime law. While he is well-versed in many different aspects of the law, he remains dedicated to ensuring that seamen and longshoreman, as well as harbor and shipyard workers have their rights fully protected.
