experience representing individuals in a
wide range of legal and financial matters.
Formerly an associate with the personal
injury law firm of Moran & Kufta, P.C., he
has formed The Law Offices of Michael P.
Stacy to serve the legal needs of individuals
throughout Western New York. Mike is also
a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the New
York State Army National Guard and active
in a number of volunteer and community
activities.
Mike received his B.A. degree
in Political Science from Hobart College in
1989 and his J.D. degree from the
University of Akron School of Law in 1993
where he was awarded the American
Jurisprudence Award in Professional Ethics.
While in Law School, he also clerked for the
Hon. Magistrate Judge, James J. Gallas, in
United States District Court. After Law
School, he received additional legal
education in trial advocacy and criminal law
at the U.S. Armys Judge Advocate School
in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Mike is a member of the
Monroe County Bar Association and the
Injured Workers Bar Association. He is also
an active member of the Irondequoit Public
Library Board of Trustees, the 27th Division
Veterans Association and the Reserve
Officers Association.
Mike was born in Rochester, grew
up in Webster and lives with his wife and
two children in the Town of Irondequoit.
Mike primarily focuses in the areas of workers compensation, work accidents and occupational diseases. Mike wrote an article for the American Bar Association on how to manage a Workers Compensation Law Practice and reviewed a book for
Lawyers Cooperative Publishing called
Modern Workers Compensation. Mike
proudly represents IUE Local 509 automotive workers at Valeo(formerly AC Delco). He handles literally
hundreds of cases each year involving
repetitive factory type injuries such as
carpal tunnel and rotator cuff tears.
He also has seven years experience
representing construction workers, teachers,
and health care workers in serious
accidents.
He also has vast experience representing clients in Social Security claims including claims under Title II (SSD) and (SSI). Many people who have serious compensation injuries or older
workers who are not terribly injured but who
find it difficult to get retrained with a
disability often have a Social Security claim
as well. While working as a Clerk in the
U.S. District Court he assisted in writing
several decisions involving Appeals from
the Social Security Administration. Today,
Mikes office is conveniently located across
from the Social Security Administration. By
having a lawyer that handles both your
Social Security case and your Workers
Compensation, you can be assured both
cases are being coordinated.
Lastly, he also has vast experience in the area of Personal Injury. Mike began his career
handling nothing but serious personal injury
cases, many of which were work related
third party cases. He was involved in
several million dollar settlements and
verdicts.
