Rivera & Hanes, P.L. was established in 2004 to combine the experience and skill of Hector C. Rivera and John W. Hanes, III, and provide clients with superior legal services at a personal level. H�ctor has practiced law for over 25 years and is the senior partner at the firm. He also serves as Corporate Counsel for International Data Management, Inc., the recognized industry leader in land title matters for The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos. IDM specializes in title and developer services for the offshore/international real estate market. H�ctor has been recognized by his peers in the Florida Trend magazine as being in the top 1.6% of his practice area. From 1997-2000, H�ctor was the Operations Vice-President at a prominent title insurance company in Puerto Rico. His experience in real estate spans over 15 years and includes the establishment and expansion of offices for the largest real estate and title insurance firm in the Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
tri-state area -- an endeavor he undertook after selling his solo practice in 1994. H�ctor began his legal career with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General�s Corps in 2004 after graduating from the George Washington University National Law Center. There, he worked as an International Claims Commissioner, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, Criminal Defense Attorney, Administrative Law Advisor, and in different Senior Counsel and Staff Judge Advocate positions. He received various awards for his outstanding service during his military career. H�ctor is a distinguished citizen and attorney with the highest level of honor and integrity. In addition to zealously representing his clients, he has served the U.S. in two wars as an officer of the Armed Forces. He is bilingual and is a seasoned featured speaker on real estate and title insurance matters in the United States, The Bahamas, and Puerto Rico.
John has practiced law for over 13 years. He has served as In-House Legal Counsel for Peachtree Settlement Funding, a financial services organization specializing in the life settlement industry and International Data Management, Inc., a well-recognized boutique specialty firm servicing international developers and offshore investors. From 1996 - 2003, he was General Counsel of ACES Corporation, an association of non-profit corporations, and was responsible for the incorporation, auditing and legal matters of over 80 non-profit corporations throughout the Eastern United States, Africa and the Caribbean. He is experienced in trusts and estates and both for-profit and not-for-profit corporate matters. John graduated from Princeton University in 1987 with a B.S.E. in Operations Research engineering and received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1996.
