My father introduced couple of plots in our firm via MOU-Notorised in our firm and the firm constrcutrd house on those plots. While registering the fullhouse dastavej in registar office, we mentioned Seller : "undersigned by mr.X (my father) - as an individual and a s partner of firm Y (our construction firm" . We did for couple of houses before with 1% stamp duty but now the new registar demands extra 1% stamp duty to be paid on this type of dastavej where com pany name comes in the picture.

please advice:

1. shall i need to pay double stamp duty because company name is mentioned???

Dear Sam,

1. Payment of Stamp Duty at the prevailing ready reckoner rate is advisable and recommended.

2. It is possible that the the Stamp Duty prevailing rate was 4.9%, but you still stand to gain because you are being asked to pay only 2%.
