Legal Question in Banking Law in India
I have given a cheque to the customer. But it returned due to alteration in date. I have made payment to customer through online banking again. Is there any penalty or consiquenses fo the returned cheque?

Dear Sir / Madam,
If you have received the instrument back and if the customer has not lodged a recovery suit against you under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1938 for cheque dishonour, you do not remain liable for any consequences nor penalty for the returned cheque.
