Legal Question in Banking Law in Pakistan

*** A Govt. Security field official had died in an accident while performing duty and now Govt. Security Department concerned is asking the bank to close his account and pay balance amount through issuance of Pay order in the name of department as per their SOP for payment to next of kin of deceased. Is it legal to do so i.e. whether bank can pay the amount lying in deceased account to Govt. department of deceased.

not clear whether ur question z about personal savings of deceased employee laying with his personal account or regarding account which is created on directions of govt. department for the purpose of salary or other emoluments :

in respect of personal account of deceased, govt. department has no authority to ask for

if it is specifically created on deptt's directions for salary and other payments to deceased after his death by deptt. or bank concerned where said employee was posted only, then department could ask for.
