Legal Question in Banking Law in
I have issued a cheque of 1 lakh to Mr.X against a sum of 1 lakh cash. I have repaid him Rs.60,000. Now he have admitted the cheque & the cheque got bounced. He has sent me a advocate notice to clear the amount. Kindly suggest.

if you have taken the receipt for payment of 60thousand, then your liability is only 40000 and you may say so in the reply to notice. Not replying the notice will be damaging.

you may have to contest the case as the complainant may demand 1 lac from you despite the fact you have already paid 60k.
