Legal Question in Banking Law in India
My mother in law has kept FD with monthly income scheme in Department of Postal. It's joint account in the name the name of my mother in law and my sister in law (wifes youngers sister). The nominees for these FD is my wife and my father in law. 6 years back my mother in law passed away and now my my sister in law who is holding all the passbooks not ready to provide my wife her share. Please let us know legally if it's possible to get our share.

Your deceased mother-in-;aw may have then had valid reasons to name your sister-in-law as the joint holder of her FDs ensuring that both her daughters get an equal share of her money. I strongly recommend and suggest you keep out from your wife's matters with your sister-in-law. Let your wife handle your sister-in-law in her own way to ensure that she gets her share. You must surely be aware that females are very smart when it comes to recovering money ... then be it from their brother, sister. father, mother, relative, friend, colleague and even a foe.
