Dear Sir / Madam,

Lok Adalats comprise of senior legal counsel of the Bar Council of India, who have been bestowed by the Chief Justice of India with the authority of hearing contractual disputes between the parties, and deciding upon the matter. The Lok Adalat has the authority to issue summons to either any or both the parties to appear before it. Should the party(ies) ignore the initial summons, the Lok Adalat has the authority to inform the Police so as to initiate contempt proceedings and issue an arrest warrant to the concerned party in default to remain present in Court at the next hearing date fixed for the case
