Legal Question in Business Law in India
I bought a sony bravia LCD TV from authorized dealer in india about 5 and a half year ago.
One of the part the BA board burnt out, don't know how. This happened about couple of months ago. I reached out the sony service center and they recommended a replacement of the board. i agreed and made the advance payment. Now they come back and say that the part is no more available with sony. They are offering 25% discount on new TV. I am not happy with the offer becuase replacing the board would cost me 13k and buying a new TV with discount will cost me approx 50K. I want to know if there is a law for making the part available and if yes, then for how many years? i want to get back to them if things are in my favour. Kindly assist.

Dear Sir / Madam,
Any product is assured of service during the warranty period which is normally of one year, not beyond. If the Company is telling you that they do not have a replacement, you have no other choice but to replace the product.
Regards,
No such law that the parts must be made available for a specified period, company is liable during the warranty period, to the extent of warranty cover, and nothing beyond that.
In fact they are giving you a good offer, to buy a new TV at 25 % discount.
