Legal Question in Business Law in India

Sir, I have started a drawing class few months ago and I have 10 students now, I have put a banner outside my house. I stay in bangalore and a couple of days ago bbmp employee who collects water bill has come and is saying that he will put bill as commercial tax and if I say something he is saying that I have to give 15%of my classes money, and he told he will put my next bill under commercial tax bill. But I am not selling anything at my house. And there are few other classes like music, veena, tailoring taken at home in my area. What is my fault I just wanted to know. Thank you.

Dear Sir / Madam.

As per BBMP (Bengaluru Bidyut Madhyawarthi Pratishthan) rules and regulations, the employee's views are right since you have put a banner outside your house advertising your services to the public. When you advertise your services, it is treated as commercial activity. If you insist on maintaining your banner outside your house, I suggest and recommend that you pay the prevailing requisite Municipal Tax and overlook what others in the neighbourhood are doing..
