Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India
i have given a cheque for Rs 17000/- to one flat builder 2 years back without putting date.They have given me the receipt also for the same.I have sold the flat last year.The builder is now refusing to give me back the cheque I have given .I have mde stop payment of the cheque last year.Please let me know whether builder can do anything against me?

Dear Sir / Madam,
You gave the cheque to the builder since you owed him / her the money. I see no reason why the builder should return back the cheque to you. The builder can deposit the cheque and since it is going to bounce, the builder can file a Section 138 case of "cheque dishonour" against you for recovery of the amount.
