Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India

Dear Law Guru,

My name is Sony and I reside in Bangalore. My dad who is 82 years now owns a house in the most expensive part of the city and he has 5 daughters all in the same city and well settled. He has a huge house and it was built in the year 1972 and it is in a good condition. My dad is very much emotionally attached to the house and after his death he wants no one to sell the house so he is writing a will and want to give all the property to his last daughter - Renuka as she is UK return and most educated among all his daughters.

He want to give the house to Renuka and as per his will Renuka also cannot sell the house, we can only give it for rent and 5 daughters should share the rent. However the property will solely belong to Renuka.

We (4 daughters) are just keeping quiet as we dont want to hurt his emotions and fight against Renuka after him and convince her to sell the house and divide the money among 5 daughters equally.

Can you please advise what is right? Can we get the share of the property after he gives it away to Renuka?

Dear Sony,

I see it very similar to a flight instruction : "Fasten your own seat belt before you help other fasten theirs". Your father is protecting and safeguarding his own interests, first, to ensure that all your sisters interests are duly protected in the bargain, and secondly, the property appreciates more. Property anywhere in INDIA never ever devalues. You may need to adhere to and follow your father's directives.

Regards,
