what is the difference between self aquired property and ancestral property?

Dear Sir / Madam,
Property acquired by oneself from his own funds is called self acquired property. Property which is inherited from ancestors, is called ancestral property.

I agree with Prashant Chavan. The property that you buy of your money will be self acquired property. While the property that you get from your ancestors is ancestral property. You can decide who will get a share in your self acquired property when you are alive. But the share in the ancestral property will be decided by the law of succession of your particular religion.
