Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in India
My mother in law's (married before 1989) father expired without writing any will. They are 3 daughters and 3 sons. Can my mother in law claim for equal share in either her father's self acquired property or ancestral property?

Dear Sir / Madam,
(Perambur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu)
On the death of the father, the property gets transferred to the mother if she is still alive. If the mother is already deceased, each of the sons and daughters will be entitled to a 1/6th share in the property.
