Is spitting on the face punishable under law in India ?? If yes then what is the punishment ??

Dear Sir / Madam,
Yes, spitting on the face is a punishable offence in India. The punishment for the offence is a maximum fine of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) by the offender to the aggrieved party, or three month's simple imprisonment for non payment of the fine by the offender.
