Is it so that the old tenants residing from may be 1950 will be sole owner of the house they occupy?

Dear Sir / Madam,
No way. "Once a tenant, always a tenant" Unless the landlord sells the tenement on outright basis at an agreed consideration, you continue to remain a tenement irrespective of the year since when you have been occupying the tenanted premises.
