Legal Question in Technology Law in India

I recently completed PHD from a reputed institute in India and i am working in a different institute. Somebody first complained against my PHd in my parent institute and when after inquiry from institute I was cleared of the allegations, now that person is sending mails to my workplace. How can i file a defamation case against him. I dont know who is doing that because fake ID is being used and the name given on letters does not exist.

Dear Sir / Madam,

You should lodge an FIR in the local Police station and leave it to the Police to trace the culprit. Please repost query if there is no Police action forthcoming within 15 days of lodging the FIR.
