Re: Virtual Banking

The easy answer is that there is no easy answer as far as UK law is concerned. I'm not sure where you're based but if it's feasible to get to Sheffield on Friday you're welcome to come to our seminar which is sponsored by Keeble Hawson Moorhouse and telerise - there's more at www.telerise.com

I'm also not sure what level you're at. There are a whole host of issues in the UK such as trademarks, domain names, copyright and very importantly data protection as well as the conventional banking issues. There is some information on Internet law and a downloadable beginner's pack in the updates section of our website at www.keeblehawson.co.uk

There are no easy answers and you need to sit down with a lawyer who's got experience of regulation and the Internet and have him audit your site before you put it up. There are also jurisdictional issues to consider. Some firms like ours (The Lawyer says that we were the first to offer fixed fee Internet audits in the UK)will try and quote you up front what that will cost. I think this is an area where you can't afford to cut corners - for some mistakes in the UK you can end up with personal criminal convictions.
