An M.O.U. was entered to purchase a land an d there was a letter of allotment. however land was never shown and handed over. for non compliance of MOU amount paid for purchasing land was returned by a cheque. However it is bounced. what next steps are required what is the time limit

Immediately send him a legal notice u/s 138 of NI Act within 30 days. Also complain against him u/s 420/422 IPC to the Police station nearest to his place. If Police does not register FIR then File a criminal complaint for 420/422 IPC u/s 200 r/w 156 (3) of CrPC to his area Magistrate.

Dear Sir / Madam,

You need to file a case for "cheque bouncing" under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act against the defaulter for return of the advance amount back to you.
