Legal Question in Consumer Law in India
I recently had my house renovated by a builder, an amount for the contract was decided between us. After getting paid a substantial amount, the builder stopped work on the pretext of more payment. I had told him on number of occasion that there will not be any more payment until he completes the work. He stopped work and is now threating with a court notice. We did not sign any agreement or legal document. Kindly advise, what is the legal course of action that we can take. On top of it he has sent many derogatory mails to me on my email id.

Dear Sir / Madam,
Today is Gudi Padwa - the Maharashtrian Marathi community New Year !
You are telling me your side of the story. I must caution you that if you've not got the quantum of completed renovation work by the builder independently assessed and certified by an Architect or a qualified Interior Decorator confirming that the total payment made by you to the builder for the work done thus far is adequate, you've got trouble brewing ahead for you. Get this independent assessment done first to safeguard yourself.
Regards,
