if they have said so in writing it is worth the litigation but now if you take any action they will take the plea that they rejected your name as you wee found unsuitable for the post. at best send them a legal notice and you will know what i mean

The number of placement agents in India these days are more than the candidates who are available in the market for a job. Two in every three persons is a placement agent. So always follow a practice to only mail your resume along with your scanned Educational Certificates and Testimonials. Let the placement agent take the trouble of taking the printout of your CV before the interview especially since you are attending the interview without costs paid for. You should have checked before you went for the interview whether the Company is going to bare the travel fare and only then gone all the way from Delhi to Mumbai just for the interview. You should have also insisted on the Job Definition (JD) and Job Role to see whether you find it interesting and worth to attend the interview. I know of many Bengaluru based Companies who are so wretched, that they tell the candidate to submit a DD of Rs. 100/- to Rs. 200/- in their favour along with the application with the intention of recovering the cost of the interview. So, take this as a lesson and be careful in future. Don't ever attend any interview unless the Company HR persons actually call you for the interview and ask them whether they are going to bear the cost of travel, and only then decide whether you are going to attend the interview. Court action is a sheer waste of time and money and is not at all advisable nor recommended.
