Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

i had used a cerdit card amounting to rs 40000 some 16 years before,due to loss of job and no financial support i defaulted on the credit card payments,and no recovery agent contacted me after that,know after 16 years i received a call from police saying that i have a arrest warrent against my name for non payment of credit card dues amounting to 44 lakhs(40000 became 44 lakhs),how come such a huge amount,please guide
