Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in
We had given a check as a safety measure to our creditor without insertion of amount or date almost 4 years ago.
Recently this creditor incorporated the same check with an amount of Rs.500000.00 and deposited without our consent.
Incidentally the account from which the cheque was drawn upon was closed six months ago thus the cheque was returned on presentation.
What are the legal ramifications?

they may file a complaint under negotiable instruments act and you may prove in the court that the cheque was only given as a security and not towards any debt or liability.
