Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

A friend of mine and me decided to rent a house together. I gave him 50k for security advance deposit to rent a home. He was supposed to add his contribution and give the money to the house owner. I had transferred funds (50k) using NEFT (SBI). But later we decided to not rent the house together. I asked this person to give my money back but he is not responding to any of my communications. How do I get my money back? Should I contact a lawyer?

Dear Sir / Madam,

Your cheapest and quickest remedy to this issue, is to inform your friend to return back your money within 7 days, else straightaway contact the local Police Station and lodge an FIR. Please re-post your query if there is no Police action within three days of lodging the FIR.
