Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India
I did hold a credit card of standard chartered bank in the year 2005 to 2007 and I had cleared all the amount due to the standard chartered bank where they received full payment but did not issue me clearance certificate from bank for all payments made even though I had asked them that time. It has been since 9 years now and the bank is trying to send me mails through debt collections office and in that mail they have mentioned more than one credit card to my name and are demanding me to pay me in lakhs of rupees for which I am not aware of at all. The standard chartered bank has fradulently added up more cards to my name and are asking me to pay up the huge amount which amounts to in lakhs of rupees (includes late fee and interest for more than 9 years). How can a person who does not have a job and any income pay such a huge amount? They are saying in the mail that we will take legal action against you? What should I do in this case? Please help me.

Dear Sir / Madam,
Standard Chartered Bank ranks amongst the best three leading banks in the World today, and it is quite unlikely that they will raise fraudulent claims. If you've used credit cards issued by the Bank and have outstanding debts in your name, you will have to settle your debts. Your being jobless and not having income to pay up and settle your credit card dues has nothing to do with your legal liability to settle your card dues, Since you still feel that the Bank has raised a fraudulent claim, lodging a Police complaint to investigate and settle the matter is advisable and recommended.
Regards,
