Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

I have taken a loan from a friend and it was orally agreed that the loan will be repaid in a few months. Now the friend has sent a mail asking for the repayment in a week's time. What is my legal recourse?

Dear Sir / Madam,

Please respond to your friend's mail telling him / her the last date for credit of the amount to your bank A/c. I recommend that the transaction be completed on or before Saturday, 06th July, 2013.
